  • 0.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cups brown sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 0.5 cups buttermilk
  • 0.33 cups unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1.5 teaspoons vanilla extract

Crumb Topping

  • 0.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.33 cups brown sugar
  • 0.25 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 cups unsalted butter cold

Vanilla Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a donut pan
  • Mix crumb topping ingredients until coarse crumbs form and chill
  • Whisk together all dry ingredients in a large bowl
  • In another bowl, mix buttermilk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla
  • Combine wet and dry ingredients gently without overmixing
  • Pipe batter into donut pan filling each cavity ¾ full
  • Sprinkle crumb topping evenly over batter
  • Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden and set
  • Cool donuts briefly in pan then transfer to rack
  • Whisk glaze ingredients until smooth
  • Dip or drizzle glaze over cooled donuts
  • Let glaze set and serve fresh

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for best texture. Keep butter cold for crumb topping. Cool donuts before glazing for best results.
