Ingredients
  

For the brownies

  • 1.25 cups sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream preferably Daisy
  • 0.5 cups butter softened to room temperature
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 bananas mashed until smooth with some small lumps
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2.25 cups all-purpose flour preferably King Arthur
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.75 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cups walnuts chopped into ¼-inch pieces
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon

For the frosting

  • 0.5 cups butter melted and browned
  • 4 cups powdered sugar sifted to remove lumps
  • 1.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 tablespoon milk

  • Heat your oven to 375°F and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with butter or cooking spray.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, sugar, and sour cream, beating together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the mashed bananas and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Add to the banana mixture and mix gently, then fold in the chopped walnuts.
  • Pour the batter into your prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • While the brownies bake, melt the butter in a saucepan until golden brown and fragrant, then whisk in the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  • Spread the warm butter frosting over the warm brownies immediately after removing from the oven. Let cool completely before serving.
