Ingredients
  

Chicken and Marinade

  • 2 large chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Yogurt Sauce

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • ½ cup cucumber, grated or finely diced

Pita Assembly

  • 4 pieces pita breads
  • 2 medium tomatoes, sliced
  • ½ red onion thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce or cabbage

Preparation and Cooking

  • In a bowl, mix olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, paprika, cumin, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Add chicken and coat well. Marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight.
  • In another bowl, combine Greek yogurt, dill, cucumber, a squeeze of lemon juice, and a pinch of salt. Mix well and refrigerate.
  • Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat and lightly oil it.
  • Cook the chicken for 5–7 minutes per side until fully cooked and slightly charred. Let it rest, then slice.
  • Warm the pita bread until soft and pliable.
  • Assemble by adding lettuce, tomatoes, and onions to the pita, then top with sliced chicken and drizzle with yogurt sauce.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

For deeper flavor, marinate the chicken overnight instead of just 30 minutes. Let the chicken rest before slicing to keep it juicy and tender. Warm the pita bread before assembling to improve texture and prevent tearing.
